About Zedbee

I enjoy building things.

Zedbee.dev is the home for all of my developer ideas & tools. I often put together tooling to further solve one of my own problems. Swarm and Lore are two of the tools you’ll find here.

Zedbee Swarm

It started as a shell script.

Swarm came about from my initial exploration into AI-assisted development. I wanted a way to have some degree of confidence in what AI was generating that didn't require an ever-vigilant eye. My initial solution was very basic: a shell script that called several different static analysis tools that I could then tie into Git's pre-commit hook. I was aware that agents used the same Git I was using and would therefore be blocked by those checks as well if the code wasn't up to snuff. It was the kind of stuff that I always knew a good developer would make use of, but like with a lot of Node stuff pre-AI, it was all a royal pain in the ass to set up.

Regardless, that first iteration of what would become Swarm gave me the confidence to try bigger and grander things with AI. As I worked on new projects, I'd always find myself reaching for that basic shell script. And despite the advances that AI continues to make, I still regularly see agent comments that it's having to go back and fix type errors, reduce complexity, and fix formatting that Swarm reports back with.

That's why I eventually decided to build a professional version of that original shell script. I wanted it to be an npm package that I could install, or ask an agent to install, and have it taken care of in just a few minutes. No wondering if I've got all the files, no wondering how many different other packages need to be installed, just install Swarm, run the setup, done. My hope is that some of you reading this will also find Swarm to be as useful as I have.

Lore

Lore is for the things you learn while working on a codebase: why a decision was made, how part of the project works, and what to watch out for. I wanted coding agents to have a way to keep track of that knowledge and find it again when it matters. Lore gives those discoveries a lasting home, with explanations and evidence to help the next session make sense of them.
